Projects
EWB-OSU currently has two international projects. Our goal is to be involved with communities for at least 5 years, to ensure that we can understand and help meet their needs. We also pursue some shorter, local projects. We encourage everyone to get involved with a project, domestic or international. Learn more about our two international projects below. If you are interested in starting a new project as a member of EWB-OSU or have a potential project that you think would be a good fit for the chapter, please contact the executive board.
Kenya Project
We have recently been approved by EWB-USA to work with the community in Lela, Kenya. This is a brand new project - we are hoping to complete our first assessment trip towards the end of the summer. The current goal of the project is to provide clean and accessible water to the community. More information on the Kenya Project Page.

El Salvador Water Project
EWB-OSU is partnered with the mountain communities of Las Mercedes and El Naranjito to design and install an efficient , appropriate, and locally sustainable water filtration and delivery system. These rural Salvadoran mountain communities have a history of deficient accessibility to potable water. Although sufficient supplies of water exist in natural springs, residents must hike long distances and carry the water over rough, sometimes impassable terrain. Read more…
Rainwater Catchment Project at the OSU Organic Growers Club Farm
The rainwater catchment project is a sub-project of the El Salvador water project. EWB-OSU has partnered with the Organic Growers Club to design and install a rainwater catchment system on a small building at the club farm. This project not only provides the farm with a new source of water but also serves as the pilot project for EWB-OSU’s efforts in El Salvador. A presentation of the project plans is available in Power Point form here.
Wind Turbine Project - OSU Corvallis Campus
Imagine seeing little white wind turbines dotting the OSU Corvallis campus each day. Day and night, their blades will whir softly above the rooftops, generating power for an expanded night lighting system making campus more sustainable and more secure. Come join us to bring Oregon State enhanced security and a reduced carbon footprint. Read More…
