First General Meeting - Wednesday September 26th
–6:30pm : Intro to EWB - An overview of the national and local organization structure and general goals
–7:00pm: Project Presentation & Update
Open Positions
Announcements: Call for Volunteers - banquet, collecting Auction Items, football parking, Beaver Fair, T-Shirt Orders
Pizza Served
Banquet - October 19th
-Invitations almost done
-Room reserved
-Food planned (no alcohol)
-Letters sent requesting silent auction donations, though more items still needed (volunteers will conduct saturday search oct 6th)
-Key Note Speaker Scheduled (water resources)
-Marimba Band reserved
-Volunteer List to be circulated at first meeting
-Thank You’s and better records will be extremely important immediately afterwards (a “thank You” committee)
Regional Conference - October 12-14
-Email Resume for distribution
-Kelly to bring more info next week
Fundraising
-Football (Brad) - bring sign up list to start week, beaver fair, and general meetings
-Casino Night - plan for winter term
*Banquet/Fundraising Committee will begin work on that following the banquet
*May collaborate with Greeks
-Apply to COE and ASOSU for $$ (get budget from Rob and Aparna to form report)
Project - First meeting during week 2 (tentatively Monday Oct 1st)
-ADESCO Letter has been set this summer
-Carl is in good contact with new Peace Corps volunteer Aaron who has compiled good statistics on community demographics and meetings
-December trip may require more OSU volunteers since it is scheduled during coffee harvest
-Community prefers gutter systems and cisterns for each house rather than large central tanks (except maybe at the school)
-Budget is in progress
-There is a professional traveler and at least one professional mentor (Richard Umana)
-TAC - needs to be sent ASAP to buy plane tickets
-Potter’s for Peace pots were very successful - the community will be purchasing more with their own funds (though more $$ is available from us and maybe the middle school)
-End Goal - There is no other project planned for the community beyond the installation of this water system
-Begin investigating the next project - Evan Miles
Recruiting
-Freshman classes in CS/CE/CEM as well as the College of Business and health studies (Kelly Volkmann could help with this angle)
Future Meetings
-Oct 10th - Wave Energy (confirmed)
-Oct 24th - Aparna to contact engineering friend with int’l experience
-Nov 7th - Maybe something public health related? ask Kelly Volkmann
-Nov 28th - Chapter Exchange, maybe with Humboldt State
Local Projects
-Habitat - get more info from Brian Wood, have Evan and maybe Anna pursue
-Trail Clearing (Kevin will pursue for next spring) or Road restoration?
-Make a Difference Day - Does Corvallis participate? Evan (and Lyndsey?) to investigate
