Postponed Kenya Project Assessment

Hello,
We’d like to provide you with an update of the Kenya project. As many of you know, over the last couple months we have been working very hard for our September assessment trip. This week as we continued the preparations, we met with some people that were in Lela just this summer. As a result, a couple new issues were raised that we had not considered before. We all worked very very hard to appropriately address them, but were unable to fully incorporate the changes into our trip. We finally decided that it would be in the best interest of the villagers of Lela and our project for us to postpone the assessment trip to December when we are certain we can be successful.
As you can imagine, we were initially disheartened by this postponement. Yet, just this week, we also had an opportunity to see pictures of the village Lela for the very first time. We have attached one with this message so you can also see their current water source. We have also posted more pictures at <http://groups.engr.orst.edu/ewb/pictures_of_lela>. Seeing these pictures has strengthened our resolve to continue working hard to ensure that the people of Lela have access to clean water.
We look forward to your continued support and hard work since this project is not possible without it. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Adam, Andy, Aparna, and Kendra
September assessment travel team
