Tonight:

Speaker: Gary from H2O for life.

  • They go to Guatemala every winter to drill wells.
  • He sees an opportunity for EWB to help with engineering or use their equipment in Guatemala.
  • They have used merry go round pumps to draw up water. We might be able to find a better pump.
  • People also still want water closer to their houses.
  • The have been drilling for five years and working in Guatemala for 12 years total.
  • Wells have been drilled in 5 villages this year. They need better way to get water out of deep holes.
  • Medical bills down 70% this year with well water in an orphanage.
  • The also build concrete water reservoirs. The forms are still there for anyone to use.
  • They also have housing and trucks available for us to use.
  • Since a well was put in in one community a year ago there have been no infant deaths
  • However, there is no sewer system in most of these places.
  • There are 260 villages within 30km of their base of operations, so there is plenty of work
  • Most of their money comes from fundraising, donations, and other entities that want to help (churches, etc)
  • Their website is H2oforlife.org
