General:
1. Financial update: There is currently $12322 in the El Salvador fund
2. Aaron from the Portland Professional chapter is managing corporate sponsorships for all Oregon EWB chapters.
3. Funds will be raised on national level and state level instead of independently. EWB-USA is just starting this up, and it should be functioning in a few months. Right now they are asking us to hold off on requesting donations from large corporations that they will be on their list of sponsors.
4. We will hold an extra meeting next Thursday for the new project selection committee presentation. They want to make a decision before winter break to start planning for the project.
5. Aparna will start sending weekly emails with all EWB events for the week to prevent flooding inboxes with a bunch of little emails. She asks that information to be sent out be emailed to by Sunday morning.
6. Peavy courtyard cleanup-The COF is asking us to help with the Peavy cortyard cleanup this year.
Evan: We’ve used a lot of COF resources in the past, so we should participate.
7. Kevin: Do alumni have the option to say where money donated to the University goes?
- Brad has some alumni contacts. He will look into this
- John: It might be easier to talk with dean of COE, then have him to talk to them with us. They aren’t always easy to work with
- The endorsement would help, plus we do need $12,000 for our next trip.
Wind Turbine Project:
- Four people met yesterday and are choosing the final design. They will submit it to the ME prof in charge of senior projects. Hopefully they will be able to build it for us.
- They are making a power point for general use in the future.
- Do they have to go through TAC for this project? It does have design and safety aspects they might need to clear. However, we didn’t do anything for organic grower project, though maybe we should have. We will at least contact TAC and see if they feel they need to moniter this project.
El Salvador update:
- TAC has requested more info on a few details of the design, but hopefully we will have the project cleared this week.
- Subsidizing 50% of CPR/first aid training classes offered in Dixon. CPR is offered Nov. 18th, professional rescuer is on the 24th and 25th.
- Evan: will OSU have a problem with us doing this?
- Kevin: they shouldn’t
- Other discussion: This will be open to whole club, but we will only sibsidize the first 10. We will sponsor another group for for next trip.
- Rob: Motion to subsidize %50 of cost of either of these classes for the first 10 people
- Kelly: Due to upcoming trip, travelers need to get first priority.
- Motion passed, 15-0
3. Kelly is requesting $7000 for materials for the December implementation in Cerro Caballo.
- Motion passed, 12 for, 3 abstain.
4. Kelly is requesting $100 for masonry training for the travelers.
- Motion passed, 12 for, 3 abstain.
